Piclens: a new way to view images

“PicLens instantly transforms your browser into a full-screen, 3D experience for viewing images on the web.

Wandering aimlessly around the Web today I found a new plugin for Firefox, and a host of other browsers I may add. “Great,” I can hear you cry, “as if that’s anything to get excited about”. And yes, you are right. Firefox plugins aren’t anything to get excited about nowadays. But this one is slightly different.

The jist of it

Pagination is one of my pet peeves. One would imagine there would be a better way to trundle through pages and pages of data. Yes, you could perform a search, but by doing that you may miss something of interest. Well, Piclens has solved this for browsing images on the Web. Click a “preview” button and you get taken into a fullscreen wall of images.

Basically it looks like Apple’s AppleTV wall of videos. And lets face it, that’s pretty cool.

Think of the uses…

Time saving. I love saving time on the Web. And this will do just that, on those rare occasions I am looking for a photo of something. It’s much faster than clicking on links, waiting for them to load and realising that you don’t need them.

Okay, so you might need to have a reasonably fast connection speed to make use of this, but heh, it’s worth it.

Holy cow that is sweet. I was expecting it to be clunky and lame, but it runs great even on my laptop. Nice find.

its pretty good, but the quality of the images which is shown could be better, apart from that its a nice little gadget.
